Company Background
RAPADEMICS® began several years ago as an idea to utilize the appeal and popularity of Rap Music and Hip Hop culture to educate and make a positive impact on the lives of youth. Rap's compelling power can be seen through the impact and influence of today's rap artists. In the past 20 years this art has influenced millions of youngsters world wide and is the catalyst for a multi-billion dollar industry. The RAPADEMICS® product line is developed in association with Project J.A.M.S. and MNP Enterprises.
MNP Enterprises is a full service product development and distribution company utilizing innovative methods to service the entertainment and education industry. MNP Enterprises services include music projects, movie soundtracks, commercial jingles, interactive media, live shows, and instructional videos. The focus of Maroon Nation is to build and support the community with positive messages and images through media and to provide training and career opportunities for youth in the entertainment and multimedia industry.
 
Project J.A.M.S. (Just Another Means of Success) is a community and youth development organization dedicated to offering positive, life changing options to families and children. We are currently working collectively with individuals and organizations to offer tangible resources, information and direction to children, families and communities that are in need. Project J.A.M.S. is a 2003 ESSENCE Award recipient for its innovation and effectiveness in offering innovative programs such as RAPADEMICS.

KEY PERSONNEL

Amon Rashidi, Director of Program Development, has excelled as a community and political activist, founder and director of a national non-profit organization (Project J.A.M.S.), accomplished national lecturer, and a phenomenal spoken-word artist. He has utilized his vast experience to develop effective and innovative community and youth development programs dedicated to offering positive, life-changing options to families and children. Amon's work with youth has received national attention from the U.S. Congress and the National Commission on Children. Amon received the 2003 ESSENCE Award for his innovative and effective programs such as RAPADEMICS, School-Based Social Intervention, and the Community Mobilization Plan. Project J.A.M.S. has received numerous awards including the George Washington Medal of Honor, the highest award for a non-profit organization.

Amon has lectured at Howard University, Harvard Graduate School, and West Point Academy just to name a few. He has appeared on CBS' 48 Hours, CNN, the USA Television Network, and twice on the PBS special, "Who Cares About Kids", with internationally acclaimed poet laureate Maya Angelou.

 

Ezra Jay (E.Jay), Production Director, began his musical journey in 1976 studying piano, voice and music theory. Shortly after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and intrigued by new technologies in music production, E.Jay returned to his first love and began writing, arranging and producing songs for local artist in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. He gained valuable experience by recording and releasing several independent projects, working with local and regional artists, producing music beds for radio stations and producing commercial jingles.

His list of production credits include:
· "Battle Cry" on the "Public Enemy" soundtrack released by the famed producer Nile Rodgers' on Sumthing Else Music Works
· Two songs featured in the movie "Uninvited Guest" - starring Mekhi Phiffer
· Produced "Vibe" with George "Dr. Funkenstein" Clinton on "Mind, Body & Soul" project
· Produced the ground-breaking Spoken Word project "Revolution" featuring Amon Rashidi on CBS Records/EMI Distribution
· Produced several re-mixes for various artists on A&M Records
· Worked with Erykah Badu on the Nommo spoken word project
· Co-Produced "Push It Up", MDM & Voices featuring Myron Williams, Dexterity/EMI
